A New Light: Cataract Surgery Patient Thanks Doctor and ASC Staff With Donation to Aid the Visually Impaired
Cataract surgery restores New Jersey man’s vision.
Surgical Specialty Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania offers a spacious, up-to-date ambulatory surgery center. We welcome the surgeons of Kingston Surgery Center, who merged their center with ours in March 2016. Kingston Surgery Center has a long history in our community. It was the very first outpatient surgery center in Pennsylvania, built in 1984.
United, we form a team of experienced and highly skilled surgeons offering dentistry, ENT, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management and podiatry. We are proud to be named a Cataract Innovator, one of less than twenty centers in the United States recognized for superior patient care.
Our patients have highly rated the care they have received from our doctors and staff and say they are likely to recommend our center for outpatient procedures. See what patients had to say.

Learn MoreHands down, the best experience I’ve ever had while in a surgical setting. From Reception to the Nurse Donna who got me prepped and ready, to the anesthesiologist, to the post op Nurses who wheeled me out to the car. I was absolutely terrified! And the tears started rolling as soon as the IV went in because I knew it was only a matter of time. But the women in this facility went above and beyond to keep me calm and as comfortable as possible. I’ll never forget my experience here. Thank you Ladies!
Had my first Cataract Surgery end of March. I was a little nervous but that went away after the first 5 minutes of being there. Sharon and Trish made me feel at easy and talked me through the whole procedure. The whole Staff was kind and friendly. Will be back for my second surgery soon.
My fiance was supposed to have cataract surgery Friday. He's been waiting to get this cataract surgery since January. He was sent home first time from this center. The second time his surgery was canceled for Friday. Doesn't matter because he wasn't cleared for the surgery by physician assistant because his A1c was an 8. His primary doctor did not require blood work the first time. He went to office upset and they did not give him an explanation unprofessional. I'm a nurse I called the center to ask what were the risk of cataract with an A1c of 8? Which has nothing to do with cataract I was not on the list to receive info which was fine it's Hippa violation. He let's me handle everything so It doesn't matter. The nurse I talked to had an attitude so I returned the favor. He has to walk around with cataract for months again. Everytime he looks forward to surgery here its always something the fact that it was canceled. He will be switching his doctor and will be receiving surgery soon again!
Everyone was friendly, kind, courteous and caring.

I had wisdom teeth removed today - I warned the staff that I'm resistent to a lot of oral pain meds and that they might need to be more heavy with anesthesia, because any cavity I've had filled in the past I've always been 100% aware for. The novocain just takes longer to kick in for whatever reason. Anyway, cue me waking up before they're fully done with surgery and I can feel them digging around in my jaw while I'm trying to groan that I'm awake as they're suturing up my gums. That felt horrible! I'm so glad I only have to get wisdom teeth out once if the anesthesia dosing here does such a poor job of listening to their clients. If your patient can talk before you're even done taking out impacted teeth, there's a damn problem!
